Clubs, Classes, Committees & Events

There are four fabulous ways to optimize your Savannah lifestyle—take advantage of them all!

What an Event!

The first is events! There are several big events sponsored by the HOA—including a Memorial Day party, a 4th of July Bash, a Labor Day Extravaganza and even an “Adult Neighbors only” signature event. There are also various smaller events—welcome breakfasts where veteran residents meet and greet new homeowners, an Egg Hunt, Mother’s & Father’s Day celebrations, a Fall Festival, a Turkey Waddle and – of course—a Holiday Tree Lighting complete with the Jolly Old Elf himself.

Events are planned by Candice Roy (candice.roy@premiercommunities.net) in conjunction with the residents’ social committee. There is always plenty of opportunity to participate and get to know everyone, as residents take turns volunteering to help make these events successful.

Come Make an Impact!

Committees are a big part of your Savannah Lifestyle! In fact, these will be the backbone of the community’s Home Owner’s Association, and there will be several standing committees that meet regularly—either monthly or quarterly. These will serve in an advisory capacity to the community’s board of directors.

The Social, Communication/Newsletter, Safety and Hospitality committees will soon be up and running, and they’ll be run by Savannah home owners—with duly elected chairs and other officers. Every resident is welcome to come to any and all meetings, to help make the community stronger! Each committee needs plenty of volunteers, and desires positive input and suggestions. Come make an impact! After the initial organizational meeting, an HOA representative will attend a committee meeting once a quarter, or when asked for a special meeting.

Clubs, Clubs, Clubs!

The best thing about Savannah clubs is that they are resident driven—but advertised by the HOA! When several residents express an interest in forming a club, the HOA event planner helps get it up and running by first advertising the newly forming club in the newsletter.

Next, at the first club meeting, an HOA rep will help organize the first meeting, facilitate choosing a leader and monthly hosts, and gather everyone’s contact information. If requested, the HOA may also be able to provide snacks for that inaugural meeting. HOA employees will bow out after the first organizational session, and direct enquiring homeowners to the designated group leader for more information.

After that first meeting, the club is up and running! Residents will be able to organize and shape the club to be exactly what they desire it to be. If the club wants to meet in the clubhouse, they need only reserve the room, and have the host pick up the key during office hours. Cleanup is the club’s responsibility, of course.

Options, options, options: some clubs may choose to meet in restaurants or in homes—there are no set guidelines—again, make the club exactly what you want it to be!

Fun, Fitness, Education!

Classes in many areas of interest will be offered to enhance your Savannah Lifestyle. Usually, 5-10 residents are required for a class to form and continue.

Do you have a hobby or skill you’d like to offer to teach residents? Class organization works like this: First, an instructor approaches the HOA management team with a proposal. Generally, instructors are allowed to use the facilities at low or no cost, so the classes can be offered to residents at a low fee.

Next, the HOA publishes the new class and its times in the newsletter. Finally, residents show up at class time to participate! The convenience of saving a drive to Denton or Frisco will have many residents smiling!

If you’re part of a group interested in a particular class, but don’t know of an instructor, contact Jenna—she’ll try to see if she can find someone willing to bring his or her skills to Savannah at a reasonable rate!

Wow—Savannah has so much to offer!

Life is what you make of it; come make the most of it at Savannah!
