District General Disclaimer
Savannah is located within the boundaries of the Denton County Fresh Water Supply District No. 10 ("District"). The Commissioner's Court of Denton County authorized the creation of the District because Savannah is NOT located in a city. The District is a political subdivision of the State of Texas, and functions like a city. The governing body is composed of five directors, who are elected by the voters within the boundaries of the District. The undeveloped future phases of Savannah are all located within the District. The District constructs and maintains water, sanitary sewer, sewage treatment plants, storm drainage, roads, trash removal, etc. for all of Savannah, and only Savannah. In order to pay for the cost of construction and maintenance, the State has authorized the District to levy an ad valorem tax (property tax), just as a City would. The current tax rate for the District is $1.00 per $100 of assessed value. The District has the authority to sell up to $237 million in bonds to pay for District roads, water, sewer and storm drains. There is no city tax. Your tax bill should reflect the following taxing entities: Denton County, Denton ISD and Denton County Fresh Water Supply District No. 10.
